The Assessor works as a local government official in assigning values to real estate properties for The purpose of assessing property taxes within the town.
New York State law requires the assessor to maintain assessments at a uniform percentage of market value each year.
An oath is signed by the assessor when certifying the tentative assessment roll. Inventory and values estimates of each parcel is required to be kept up to date.

Key dates that effect the assessment process are:

Taxable status date------------------------March 1ST
Tentative roll filed-------------------------May 1st
Grievance Day------------------------------4th Tuesday of May
Final roll filed-------------------------------July 1st

If there are any changes to assessments, a Change of Assessment Notice will be sent to the property owner after March 1st. If the property owner wishes to discuss this change, feel free to contact me any time before the 4th Tuesday of May (Grievance Day).
My office practices an open door policy.

Property owners who feel their assessments are inequitable must file a protest by Grievance Day, which is set aside by New York State Law as the 4th Tuesday in May.
The final assessment roll is filed on July 1st. The books will be open for inspection with assessor present 4 days prior to Grievance Day. Dates will be published in local newspaper and this website.
